Block Gives Back celebrates another successful Peace & Play Day

Proceeds will go to repairs at Carmella Playground and a bookbag drive for students.

The Block Gives Back sponsored a Peace & Play Day on Saturday at Carmella Playground, 2100 Wakeling St.

The event featured DJ Serenity, live entertainment, volleyball, dodgeball, musical chairs, arts and crafts, face painting, water ice, vendors, nonprofits, water balloon fights, a watermelon-eating contest, football, Frisbee, potato sack races, soccer, raffles, guest speakers, a beanbag toss and free grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and chips for kids.

Among those in attendance was Joe Hohenstein, the Democratic candidate in the 177th Legislative District.

Proceeds will go to repairs at Carmella Playground and a bookbag drive for students. The Block Gives Back will distribute 200 bookbags with supplies on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Visionaire Designs, 4330 Frankford Ave. ••
